All 4 RSP Ministers to resign from PM Dalah's government amid political realignment
KATHMANDU: All four Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) ministers in Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda's administration are expected to quit today. RSP Chairman and the Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister, Rabi Lamichhane, will be replaced by Dol Prasad Aryal, Minister of Labor and Employment; Sumana Shrestha, Minister of Education; and Birajbhakta Shrestha, Minister of Youth and Sports. The decision was confirmed by Acting Spokesperson of RSP, Manish Jha, who stated, "Today, all four of our ministers will resign."
This resignation follows the exit of CPN-UML ministers on Wednesday evening, which resulted from the CPN-UML's new power-sharing agreement with the Nepali Congress, leading to a break in their alliance with the Maoist Center. This realignment has left the current government under PM Dahal in a minority position.
Precisely because of internal conflicts, the RSP decided to leave the administration, highlighting the continued political changes brought about by the latest power-sharing agreements. The resignations expose the influence of strategic alliances and the brittleness of coalition administrations, marking a fundamental shift in Nepal's political environment.
