16th Nepal-China Diplomatic Consultative Mechanism underway in Kathmandu
KATHMANDU: The 16th session of the Nepal-China Diplomatic Consultative Mechanism is currently underway in Kathmandu. The content of this year’s session is largely the same as the events that occurred last year. The official talks are conducted with the purpose of enhancing relations between and increasing cooperation in numerous sectors between Nepal and China, said Amrit Bahadur Rai of the Nepalese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The agenda is labeled from Education and Health Infrastructure to Cooperation, Agriculture, Economic treaties and partnerships, Trade, Investment, Tourism, and Communication Networks. In fact, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of China Sun Weidong visited Kathmandu on Sunday morning on the 8th of December in a three-day official visit to specifically attend this meeting.
The Nepali side is represented by Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal, while Vice-Foreign Minister Sun is leading a team of high-level officials from different ministries on behalf of the Chinese side. Besides the consultative meetings, Vice Minister Sun has scheduled separate courtesy calls on President Ramchandra Poudel and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal during his stay until tomorrow, June 26, when he will leave for Kathmandu.
