Nepali Embassy urges caution for Nepalis in Kyrgyzstan
KATHMANDU: Nepali nationals residing in Kyrgyzstan have been advised to exercise caution and remain indoors until the situation stabilizes, following reports of violent attacks targeting foreign students in Bishkek, the country's capital.
The safety of approximately 280 Nepalis living in and around Bishkek has been confirmed by the Embassy of Nepal in Islamabad, Pakistan. Nepalis seeking information or assistance can contact the embassy at +92512610321 (including WhatsApp) or via email at eonislamabad@mofa.gov.np.
The Kyrgyz foreign ministry has reassured that the situation is now under control. According to their statement on Saturday, law enforcement agencies swiftly responded to the incident, detaining individuals involved, including both foreign citizens and Kyrgyz nationals.
