Foreign investment in the Indian stock market is at an all-time high, with more foreign investors purchasing than institutional investors.
The Indian stock market has seen an all-time high in foreign portfolio investors, or FPIs. A total of 2.36 billion 59.55 million Indian rupees were invested in the stock market by foreign investors last week. FPI investors made 1.51 billion 81 crores of investments last Monday.
The Times of India reports that as of Friday, their investment had dropped to 85 billion 37 million rupees. In addition, FPI invested more than 5 trillion 73 billion rupees in total in September.
In September, FIIs made investments totaling 5 billion 73 billion 59 crore rupees. Whereby, through a stock market, just 4 trillion 64 billion 800 million had been invested. FIIs have invested a total of 10 trillion 2 billion 45 crore rupees in the stock market since the beginning of 2024. This has contributed to the Indian rupee's stabilization this year, according to VK Vijayakumar, Geojit Financial Services' chief investment strategist.
In the meantime, 1.59 billion 61 crores were invested in the Indian stock market last week by domestic institutional investors (DIIs). Since the US Federal Reserve lowered interest rates, there has been an increase in liquidity flow in the Indian market.
