Apple working on AI-enabled HomePod with touchscreen and video conferencing features
Apple is reported to the new Smart Home accessory, which can have an assistance display operating on the modified version of its TVOS software. According to recent leaks, the device can integrate the advanced capacities of artificial intelligence (AI) via the last Apple A18 chip, potentially supporting control of the gesture of the hand, FaceTime and other video calls, thanks to the camera built.
This new house accessories include Apple iPhone 16 lines, iPads, and A18 processors on other devices. If this goes ahead, it would be the first time that the Apple HomePod will have AI capabilities. In terms of design, the accessory will feature a square screen, different from the more common rectangular tablets. This screen is likely to display a customizable lock screen with different watch faces, reminiscent of the interface seen on the Apple TV. Reports also suggest that such lock screen support was spotted in a recent tvOS beta update.
The device is also rumored to have a built-in camera and could support video conferencing apps like FaceTime. Additionally, the camera will allow the system to recognize hand gestures, allowing users to operate the device hands-free.
Other expected features include user authentication to enable personalized requests, similar to what's currently on the HomePod, which can already be activated using voice commands. This device is also expected to function as an AirPlay Reader and Receiver, and is expected to increase its usefulness as a house entertainment and communication center.
