NEPSE witnesses significant downturn by 10 points
KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange, on Thursday, went downward, losing 10 points at the close of the trading session. The life insurance sector emerges as the biggest loser with its index down 82 points.
Compared to the earlier sessions, today's trading activity seemed subdued with a total of 86,63,699 shares valued at NPR 3,087,074,000 traded in 53,017 transactions. The finance sector, however chose to remain resilient, thus posting a 42.02-point gain.
In the finance sector, the share price of 11 companies increased, that of 3 remained unchanged, and that of 1 decreased. On the other hand, NEPSE has witnessed a fall in the prices of 186 companies altogether, hammering share prices of all but one in their 13 sectors.
Out of the 306 companies listed for trading, prices of only 8 companies stabilized today. In addition, the sensitive index, float index, and sensitive float index also fell by 2.69 points, 0.73 points, and 0.93 points, respectively, on Thursday. This fall is indicative of dire times awaiting NEPSE during times of pervasive economic uncertainty.
