KATHMANDU: On Friday, police in Morang arrested three individuals with 29 kilograms of marijuana. The District Police Office identified the suspects as Mohan Rai from Sagurigadhi Rural Municipality-7 in Dhankuta, Bishal Kumar Paswan from Duhabi Municipality-6 in Sunsari, and Indian national Munna Kumar Paswan.

The arrests occurred when police officers at Budhiganga Rural Municipality-7 grew suspicious of two motorbikes and decided to conduct a search. Rai was riding one bike, registered as Province 1-02-043 Pa 5385, while the Paswan duo were riding another bike, registered as Province 1-02-42 Pa 2736.

When they inspected the motorcycles, they found the marijuana concealed on them. The two motorcycles and Rs 73,560 in cash were confiscated by the police along with the drugs.

While the inquiry continues, the three people have been placed under arrest. The fact that so much marijuana was found serves as a reminder of the continuous efforts made by local law enforcement to combat illegal drug trafficking.
