Police seize 160 kg of marijuana near Nepal-India border in Biratnagar
KATHMANDU: Police in Biratnagar Metropolitan City-17, near the Nepal-India border, have confiscated a significant quantity of illegal marijuana. According to DSP Gyanendra Bahadur Basnet, spokesperson for the Morang District Police Office, a total of 160 kg of marijuana was discovered on Thursday night around 11 o'clock at an empty plot in Biratnagar-17 Gujar toll.
The operation to seize the marijuana was carried out jointly by teams from the Morang District Police Office and the Area Police Office Rani. DSP Basnet indicated that the marijuana was likely brought to the border area with the intention of transporting it into India. When the criminals realized the police were present, they seemed to discard the drug-filled bags and depart the area before authorities could catch them. An investigation is already ongoing to identify people responsible for delivering the illicit material to the region.
Six bags containing the marijuana found have been turned over to the Rani police department for additional inquiry. The goal of the police's activities is to find and capture the people responsible for this illegal behavior.
