Police crack down on black-market bus ticket sales ahead of Dashain festival
KATHMANDU: Targeting people making their way to their hometowns for the Dashain celebration, police have arrested a group that was engaged in the illicit sale of long-distance bus tickets. The Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office (KVTPO), which discovered people collecting fares over the allowed amounts from different bus park places, made the arrests.
Three individuals were taken into custody on Monday from various places in Gaushala, Koteshwar, and New Bus Park. As per Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rabin Karki, the arrests took place after the suspects were discovered to be selling tickets that were promoted as black market.
In an effort to stop this problem and shield passengers from being taken advantage of during the holiday season, police dressed in civilian clothes have been stationed in bus park areas.
