Nine arrested for gambling in Kathmandu
KATHMANDU: Nine people involved in illicit gaming were arrested on Monday night during a raid in Chundevi, Kathmandu, by the District Police Office, Kathmandu, and Maharajgunj Police Station. Karib Deula, 21, of Budhanilkantha Municipality-5, Ashok Lama, 46, of Sindhupalchowk, Narayan Labung, 38, of Taplejung, and numerous other Kathmandu residents were apprehended as a result of the operation.
The arrests took place at the residence of Yam Kumari Ale in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-4, where the suspects were caught playing cards. Police also confiscated Rs 1 million in cash and 13 dice from the scene. The arrested individuals include Nilesh Maharjan, 21, from Basantapur in Kathmandu, Rajesh Shrestha, 45, from Kathmandu, and others from various areas of the city.
The raid's specifics were verified by Superintendent of Police and Spokesperson Navaraj Adhikari, who also noted the significant quantity of cash and gaming equipment taken. The operation is a testament to the local authorities' continued efforts to stop illicit gambling in the area.
