Mayor of Lalitpur summoned by CIAA over alleged unauthorized fund distribution
KATHMANDU: Chiribabu Maharjan, Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City, has been called before the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on charges of disbursing funds without authorization on behalf of flood victims. Funds totaling between Rs 1.5 lakh and Rs 2.5 lakh were allegedly handed to flood victims in Dhapakhel in 2077 BS, which allegedly violated executive decisions, according to the complaint submitted to the CIAA.
Additionally, there have been reports from Lalitpur Metropolitan Corporation about encroachments on temple land. This issue reportedly led to a bulldozer damaging the compound wall of Sumitra Amatya. These incidents have drawn attention and scrutiny, prompting actions like the CIAA summons to Mayor Maharjan.
