Former Judge Bhuwan Giri sentenced to 7 years in prison for rape case
KATHMANDU: Former Judge Bhuwan Giri, who had been suspended, received a seven-year prison sentence following a rape case filed against him by his ex-wife, Aarati. The verdict was pronounced by Judge Durga Bahadur Bhusal of the Kathmandu District Court.
In addition to the prison term, the court has ordered Giri to pay a fine of Rs 300,000 as compensation to the victim. This decision underscores the judiciary's commitment to delivering justice in cases of sexual violence and sends a strong message against such reprehensible actions.
