Arrest warrants issued against former officials for citizenship grant
The District Police Office in Dhanusha has taken action by issuing arrest warrants against former Chief District Officer (CDO) Sharad Kumar Bhattarai and former Section Officer Kashi Raj Dahal of the District Administration Office. These warrants were issued by the District Court in Dhanusha following an investigation into the granting of citizenship to Kantipur Media Group Chairman Kailash Sirohiya.
It has been revealed that the citizenship was granted to Kailash Prasad Sirohiya during the tenure of Sharad Kumar Bhattarai as the CDO of Dhanusha, with Kashi Raj Dahal serving as the section officer. The charges against these former government officials allege that citizenship was provided to Sirohiya based on his descent, despite records indicating that he and other individuals were registered as naturalized Nepali citizens born to foreign parents in the Kingdom of Nepal.
The arrest warrants underscore the seriousness with which authorities are addressing the issue of citizenship granted under questionable circumstances. This development highlights the importance of adherence to legal procedures and protocols in matters related to citizenship, ensuring the integrity of the citizenship registry, and upholding the rule of law.
