Accounts officer Amrita Koirala arrested by CIAA for accepting bribe
KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) arrested an accounts officer at BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital, Amrita Koirala, on Sunday, in connection with bribery. She was caught with Rs 150,000 in cash and a cheque for Rs 450,000 at Bala's Restaurant in Bharatpur Metropolitan City while attempting to collect a bribe from a pharmaceutical company.
The CIAA’s Hetauda Information Officer, Govinda Prasad Gautam, reported that Koirala had been soliciting bribes in relation to payments for purchasing medicines for the hospital. Her arrest occurred as she was in the process of obtaining the illicit funds.
