WhatsApp will stop operating on older Apple, Samsung, and other devices: Here's a list of phones affected
People are holding on to their smartphones longer than ever before. According to Statista, most people in the US keep their devices for at least two years and seven months before upgrading, and some use their phones until they break. If you have old phones and continue to use WhatsApp, you may need to upgrade to younger devices to continue using the application.
The Canaltech report shows that WhatsApp will stop updating and running more than 35 smartphones such as Apple, Huawei, Lenovo, LG, LG, Motorola and Samsung. Although brands like Huawei and LG have stopped selling phones in India, many brands are still using phone calls and are now forced to upgrade to new smartphones as they plan to use WhatsApp in the future. This is not only WhatsApp, but also many applications have similar strategies. The list includes some of the most popular smartphones from the beginning of this decade, such as the Apple iPhone 6 and the original iPhone SE. Also, users of popular Samsung phones like Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S3 Mini and Galaxy S4 Mini need to upgrade to newer models for WhatsApp to work properly. The reason is the aging of hardware and software
Smartphone manufacturers only support devices for a few years. Because of software and hardware compatibility, developers like Meta optimize their applications for newer software versions. To run WhatsApp, you need a device running at least Android 5 Lollipop or iOS 12.
