WhatsApp might soon offer a reshare status update option, similar to Instagram
WhatsApp is testing a new feature that will allow users to easily share status updates on their profile using a dedicated button. A new feature discovered in the latest WhatsApp beta version 2.24.16.4 for Android by WABetaInfo will be useful for those who want to share status updates on their profile. A similar feature has been available on Meta's photo and video sharing platform Instagram for years.
An upcoming feature currently in development will add a quick shortcut button for re-sharing status updates, and allow users to re-share status updates as is or customize them further by changing the emojis and post size themselves. As of now, it is unclear whether WhatsApp will notify users when their status is reposted. Currently, if a user wants to repost a WhatsApp status update, they have to take a screenshot and then reupload it to WhatsApp, which isn't possible if it's a video or GIF image. WhatsApp's upcoming feature will reduce this hassle by providing a direct option to easily share your contacts' status updates. Additionally, WhatsApp is testing some new features for Android and iOS users, including the ability to choose between the smaller Meta AI model (70B) and the larger model (405B) for iPhone users.
