Google Maps is pushing out speedometers and speed restrictions for iPhone and CarPlay internationally
More than five years after its Android launch, Google Maps has introduced speedometers and speed limits to iOS and CarPlay to help iPhone users avoid speeding tickets while driving. Google has started rolling out speedometers and speed limits to iPhone users worldwide. When you start navigation on Google Maps, the speed of the car is displayed in miles or kilometers according to this area.
Earlier last week, Google Maps indicated that it has exceeded the new speed in India. Google confirmed on Tuesday that the rollout will be global. You can enable the speedometer and speed limit by tapping your profile picture in the Google Maps app on your iPhone, then going to Settings > Navigation > Driving options. When enabled, the speed limit function changes the color of the speed indicator and drives it within the regional speed limit.
On the support page, Google stated that the speedometer shows the speed of vehicles for "only information use". To check the actual operation speed, you need to rely on the speedometer of the vehicle. Google launched the speedometer and speed limiter features on Android in 2019. It was limited to select markets but expanded to more than 40 countries in May of the same year.
