Chrome makes it easy to keep track of browser tabs
Google is adding some new features to Chrome designed to help users organize and track browser tabs on desktop and mobile devices. The search giant announced in a new blog post that Tab Groups, which enables Android and desktop Chrome users to place related pages in custom tab groups, will be rolling out to Chrome for iOS starting today.
After the Chrome update, iPhone and iPad users can access the feature by turning on the tab grid, long-pressing a tab, and selecting "Add tab to new group." Custom names and colors can then be assigned to established tab groups to help keep them organized and easily identifiable.
Another feature coming to the Android and desktop Chrome apps is the ability to sync these saved tab groups across multiple devices. This should help users keep track of all the ongoing activities without losing a single piece of work or specific tabs. For example, if a Chrome user starts making vacation plans on their phone, they can group those open tabs and automatically sync them to their desktop account when they want to switch to a bigger screen. Google says the update will be rolling out to Chrome for iOS soon.
Chrome is also testing a feature that will proactively recommend sites to open on other devices, reducing the need to bookmark them. This experimental feature will force users to revisit certain web pages by opening a new Chrome tab on Android, iOS, and desktop. Google said it would begin testing "within a few weeks," but did not give an estimated time for an official launch.
