Amazon Prime will discontinue its apparel try-on program
Amazon has announced that it will discontinue its Prime Try Before You Buy program, which allowed Prime members to try on clothes before buying them. The service will officially shut down on January 31, as indicated by a banner on its landing page.
For instance, the Virtual Try-On AR feature, which enables users to view 3D models of shoes using their phone’s camera, and the personalized size recommendations that use customer reviews to offer more tailored fit suggestions, are becoming increasingly popular.
Launched in 2018 under the name "Amazon Wardrobe" and later renamed Prime Try Before You Buy, the service lets Prime members choose up to six items, try them on for seven days, pay for the ones they want, and return the rest. It's like a simplified version of services like Stitch Fix. However, the return has played an important role in the service, and Amazon has worked hard in recent years to reduce return dependence.
The end of the plan is to reduce the costs that include Amazon, including large discounts, closure of physical stores and reducing efforts at the grocery store.
