WFP provides financial aid to 1,230 families in Roshi
KATHMANDU: 1,230 families in the district's Roshi rural municipality have received financial assistance from the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) as a result of the floods. The Roshi Rural Municipality Office was in charge of distribution, and the WFP's Nepal Office handled relief administration.
Twelve people lost their lives as a result of the terrible floods and landslides that were brought on by the intense rains that fell on September 27 and 28. The region's infrastructure was severely damaged. In all, 883 homes suffered partial damage while 482 were totally demolished.
Depending on the size of each household, WFP deposited the financial assistance straight into the bank accounts of the impacted families, according to Rural Municipality Chairperson Dinesh Lama. In keeping with the government's assistance distribution strategy, the cash amounts varied from Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000.
Prior to this, the Catholic Relief Service (CRS) had previously provided financial aid to 108 families impacted by the floods and landslides.
Significant harm was also done to the community's infrastructure as a result of the natural disaster, including the destruction of 2,544 families' worth of farmed land, 160 water supply projects, one concrete bridge, 47 schools, and four health centers. Furthermore, there was significant damage to nearby establishments such Damphu Park, a hospital with ten beds, and a cold storage facility.
