Search continues for 3 missing children after landslide in Badigad
KATHMANDU: The whereabouts of three children who went missing in the landslide at Badigad Rural Municipality-10, Arupata, on Tuesday morning remain unknown. The missing children are seven-year-old Madhu, 10-year-old Manoj Budha, and 11-year-old Suman Thapa. Search efforts are being carried out by a joint team comprising the Nepal Army, Armed Police Force, and Nepal Police.
The landslide has claimed several lives, with the bodies of Jog Bahadur Budha, 78, Yamlal BK, 14, Sita Pun, 11, Amal Budha, 8, Sanju BK's six-month-old daughter Sita, and 70-year-old Maitidevi BK recovered. Among the 10 individuals seriously injured, Rima Pun, 19, Sita Thapa, 31, and Sangita Budha, 46, are receiving treatment at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu.
In addition, landslides have begun to affect Jhabrikhet and threaten the settlement of Kushmishera in Jaimini Municipality-1, where ongoing road construction is exacerbating the situation. Deepak Poudel and other locals are facing displacement and increased risk due to the landslides impacting their homes.
