Public transport services halt in Gandaki Province amid ride-sharing protest
KATHMANDU: Public transport services in Gandaki Province have come to a halt as transport entrepreneurs protest the provincial government's decision to permit ride-sharing. The protest is in response to the government's plan to allow vehicles with private number plates to carry passengers.
Transport operators across the province stopped public vehicles today to demonstrate their opposition. Previously, transport business owners issued a 48-hour ultimatum last Thursday, urging the government to abandon the new procedure.
The following day, they met with Physical Infrastructure and Transport Minister Rajib Gurung (Deepak Manange) to express their concerns and seek his intervention in halting the implementation of the ride-sharing plan.
