Public holiday declared today in Kathmandu Valley for Bhoto Jatra festival
KATHMANDU: In observance of the Bhoto Jatra festival, the government has set August 4th as a public holiday. The Ministry of Home Affairs declared in a statement released on Friday that Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Lalitpur, the three districts that make up the Kathmandu Valley, will all observe the vacation.
On Sunday, Rato Machindranath's traditional Bhoto exhibition will take place as part of the Bhoto Jatra festivities. This cultural festival is a big celebration in the valley, with enormous people gathering to watch the display.
