Polish trekker Agnieszka Sowinska dies in Suryakunda
KATHMANDU: Sowinska Agnieszka, a 23-year-old from Poland, tragically died while trekking in the Suryakunda area, located at the border of Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts, last night. Her death was confirmed by Keshab Bhattarai, the Chief of the Rasuwa District Police Office.
Agnieszka's body was recovered with assistance from the Shreenath Battalion of the Nepali Army after the tragedy. Her body was then taken by Nepal Police to Gosaikunda, where it was airlifted to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) in Maharajgunj for a postmortem investigation.
To ascertain the precise reason behind her death, authorities are presently awaiting the post-mortem results. Preliminary evaluations indicate that altitude sickness or other relevant variables might be involved.
