Nepal Police anticipates 1.8 million exits from Kathmandu Valley this Dashain
KATHMANDU: Nepal Police estimates that around 1.8 million people will be leaving the Kathmandu Valley throughout the next vacation season. Compared to the previous year's Dashain celebration, this represents a 500,000 increase. Since over 1.3 million people departed the valley for their homes at this time last year, our forecast depends on good weather.
The Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office spokeswoman, Bishwaraj Khadka, stated that stakeholder meetings have been undertaken to solve road safety issues and lower the likelihood of accidents during the celebrations. The main causes of traffic accidents in the nation, according to the authorities, are high speeds, an excessive number of vehicles, congested transportation, and bad road conditions.
To lessen these risks, Khadka said that an integrated security plan is being developed in collaboration with the three districts of the Kathmandu Valley. This initiative aims to enhance safety measures and traffic flow during the busy holiday season.
The proactive approach taken by the police highlights the importance of collective efforts to maintain road safety at this time of heightened travel, as it demonstrates their commitment to guaranteeing the safety of the millions of people who are expected to travel.
