Minister Badri Prasad Pandey calls meeting to resolve Gaushala Dharmashala dispute
KATHMANDU: To resolve a continuing conflict over the Gaushala Dharmashala's operations, Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Badri Prasad Pandey has invited a meeting of the Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT). The gathering seeks to resolve the dispute surrounding this facility, which has turned into a divisive topic.
In a letter sent to PADT on October 16, Minister Pandey, who also serves as the Chairperson of PADT, expressed his concerns about disturbances to peace and security at the Dharmashala. He instructed the Trust to halt any activities related to the management of the facility, reflecting the seriousness of the situation.
The conflict grew more intense after PADT disclosed plans to administer the Gaushala Dharmashala in partnership with the Kathmandu Metropolitan City. This decision was vigorously opposed by the Marwadi Sewa Samiti, the body that has been in charge of the institution.
Rewati Raman Adhikari, the spokesperson for PADT, confirmed the information to RSS and said that the Minister has scheduled a meeting at the Ministry for October 20 to keep the discussion going. It implies that the government is stepping forward to resolve the dispute.
Tensions over the Dharmashala's management are brought to light by the Marwadi Sewa Samiti's continuous protests. Their resistance points to a long-standing worry about operational control changes and the effects on the community.
The forthcoming gathering is regarded as an essential step in settling the dispute and bringing peace back to the Gaushala Dharmashala. For the plant to continue operating without more disruptions, the government and the stakeholders concerned will need to get on the same page.
