KATHMANDU: A tragic landslide struck Chichila Rural Municipality-3 in Sankhuwasabha district, resulting in the loss of one life and injuring two others. The victims, who were caught in the landslide on Tuesday night, faced devastating consequences as the earth gave way.

The deceased, identified as Ganga Ram Tharu from Ghorabhitta, Kakadvitta, tragically lost his life in the incident. Tharu, employed as a laborer at the Arun III Hydropower Project, was among those buried by the landslide, according to the authorities.

Two other individuals, Umesh Karki and Govinda Tharu from Makwanpur district, also suffered injuries in the landslide. Both were engaged in work at the hydropower project and were unfortunately caught in the disaster while they were asleep.

Reports indicate that the landslide engulfed three out of the 14 rooms constructed for the workers' shelter as part of the project. The incident underscores the unpredictable nature of natural disasters and the risks faced by workers in such environments.
