Government intensifies efforts for safe release of Nepali student Bipin Joshi
KATHMANDU: Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba assured that the Government of Nepal is making every effort to secure the safe release of Nepali student Bipin Joshi, who is reportedly under the control of the Hamas militant group. Dr. Rana shared this update during a meeting with Mahananda Joshi, Bipin's father, and other family members at the Ministry in Singha Durbar on Monday.
Dr. Rana informed the Joshi family that, according to recent information, Bipin Joshi is currently safe despite being held by Hamas. She emphasized that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in coordination with the Israeli Ambassador to Nepal, is actively working to ensure Joshi's release. The Israeli Ambassador has also confirmed that all hostages taken by Hamas following the recent attack are being kept safe and is collaborating on efforts to secure Joshi’s release.
Since assuming office, Minister Rana has been dedicated to this issue, actively seeking support from foreign diplomats, including making appeals to the Qatari Emir during his visit to Nepal. She indicated that the Ministry plans to formally request support from the Qatari government to facilitate Joshi's release. Joshi has been out of touch since the attack by Hamas on Israel last October.
