Flooding in Baglung's Bandre River claims 2 lives, 1 still missing
KATHMANDU: Two people have died and one is missing as a result of flooding in Baglung Municipality-4 in the Bandre River. A motorcycle and a scooter were swept away by floodwaters Friday night, resulting in a terrible occurrence.
The deceased, identified as Baglung-4 residents Arjun Sapkota, 23, and Abeshik Regmi, 22, were pronounced dead. About 200 meters downstream from where they were originally carried away, their bodies were discovered.
Twenty-year-old Kamal Sapkota is the third person reported missing. The officials are still looking for the missing person, but the ongoing rain has made rescue operations more challenging.
The search and rescue operations are being coordinated by Inspector Patap Paudel of the local police. The authorities are determined to find Kamal Sapkota as quickly as possible, despite the difficult circumstances.
The local community is quite concerned about the flooding of the Bandre River, and calls for more safety precautions during the monsoon season have been prompted by the unfortunate deaths.
