Flash floods in Balkhu River claim 1 life
KATHMANDU: A flood in Kathmandu's Balkhu River resulted in one fatality. Police discovered the body beneath the Balkhu bridge and identified the deceased as Ramswarup Mahatto, a 45-year-old resident of Banke.
Dinesh Raj Mainali, spokesperson for the Kathmandu Valley Police Office, stated that Mahatto had been swept away by the floodwaters. Authorities have informed Mahatto’s family, and arrangements are being made to hand over the body.
The heavy rain on Tuesday night in various areas has worsened the situation around the Bagmati River and several others, including Hanumante, Manohara, Dhobi Khola, Godawari, Bishnumati, Nakku, and Balkhu rivers, causing flash floods.
