Flash floods and landslides claim 77 lives and injure 75 in Kavre
KATHMANDU: Over 75 people have been injured and 77 people have tragically died as a result of recent flash floods and landslides in Kavrepalanchowk. One of the victims was a foreign national.
The District Police Office reports that five people are still missing in connection with the accident. The demographics of the dead are varied, with 33 women, 28 males, nine young boys, and seven young girls, illustrating the serious effects on local families.
Eight ladies were among the eighteen people who died in Panauti Municipality. Three males, one kid, and eight women have died in Temal Rural Municipality. The disaster was widespread, as evidenced by the six female casualties reported by Roshi Rural Municipality, along with two males, one boy, and three girls.
Mandan Deupur reported seven deaths, three of which were women, while Bethanchowk documented the deaths of eight men, three women, and one child. The breakdown of casualties demonstrates how far the calamity spread, affecting several municipalities.
Assistant Chief District Officer Subas Paudel has said that the missing people are still being searched for. The impacted families are actively receiving relief assistance to help them deal with the fallout from this tragic incident.
