Over Rs 25 million is collected in revenue by Manaslu Conservation Area.
The Manaslu Conservation Area Project (MCAP) is trekking on a path of success! Tourist numbers are soaring, and with them, revenue is reaching new heights.
Here's the exciting update: MCAP has raked in over Rs 25 million in just nine months (July 17, 2023 - April 12, 2024) – a significant jump compared to previous years. This impressive feat is fueled by a surge in foreign visitors.
Breaking down the numbers: A whopping 8,302 tourists from outside the SAARC region explored the wonders of Manaslu, contributing Rs 24.9 million. SAARC nationals weren't far behind, with 152 visitors adding Rs 152,000 to the pot.
MCAP Chief Santosh Sherchan credits the park's growing popularity to its welcoming entry fee structure: Rs 1,000 for SAARC countries and Rs 3,000 for others. This strategic approach ensures both accessibility and vital revenue for conservation efforts.
Looking ahead, the future is bright! Sherchan anticipates welcoming over 12,000 foreign tourists for the entire year. Manaslu is clearly becoming a magnet for adventure enthusiasts, and MCAP is ensuring its sustainable development for generations to come.
