Biratnagar Kings' brilliant batting helps them win their first NPL game.
Biratnagar Kings which has lost 2 matches in going Nepal Premiere League (NPL)made a difficult comeback and won with one ball remaining, in today's game Lumbini set a target of 192 runs which was the highest target of this league.
The Biratnagar Kings defeated the Lumbini Lions by two wickets on Wednesday at the Tribhuvan Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. This was their third game in the Nepal Premier League (NPL), and it was their first win.
Biratnagar faced a difficult challenge to win with one ball remaining while losing eight wickets while chasing Lumbini's challenging total of 192 runs. Before his dismissal, opener Lokesh Bam led the chase with an outstanding 71 runs off 47 balls, including three fours and five sixes.
Lumbini's bowling attack, led by Durgesh Gupta, was outstanding, despite contributions of 28 and 40 runs from Martin Guptill and Basir Ahmed, respectively. Bibek Yadav took one wicket, Saad Bin Zafar and Ramon Simmonds took two, and Gupta took three vital wickets.
After winning the toss, Biratnagar chose to field and waited as Lumbini posted a commanding 191/7 in their 20 overs. This score beat the 182-run mark set by Sudurpashchim against Biratnagar in an earlier encounter, making it the highest score by any side in the competition so far.
The highlight of Lumbini's innings was captain Rohit Paudel, who scored 46 runs off 29 balls with four fours and two sixes before being caught by Pratish GC off a delivery from Rajesh Pulami. Tom Moores was run out despite scoring a quick 30 runs off 17 balls. Multiple run-outs hampered Lumbini's batting, as four of their players were dismissed in this way.
The bowling lineup of Biratnagar, which included Rajesh Pulami, Ismat Alam, and captain Sandeep Lamichhane, all claimed one wicket each and were crucial in restricting Lumbini's total.
Biratnagar, who had lost their previous two games, would get a lot from this victory, while Lumbini will be under pressure to improve in their upcoming games.
