Top security officials travel to Chitwan to intensify search for landslide victims
KATHMANDU: A team of 15 officials, including the chiefs of Nepal's four security forces, arrived in Chitwan on Sunday afternoon. The group traveled from Kathmandu to Bharatpur aboard the Nepal Army’s Sky Truck NA 064.
Key members of the team include Home Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal, Nepal Army Lieutenant General Ashok Raj Sigdel, Nepal Police IGP Basanta Kunwar, Armed Police Force IGP Raju Aryal, and Chief Investigation Director Hutaraj Thapa. Before their departure, they attended a formal farewell ceremony hosted by Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane.
Following the ceremony, the team immediately departed for Chitwan. Earlier in the day, they met with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ in Khumaltar.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister urged them to intensify the search and rescue operations for the passengers of the buses swept into the Trishuli River by a landslide on the Narayangadh-Muglin road in Simaltal the previous Friday.
