SC to hear writ Against Deputy PM Lamichhane today
KATHMANDU: Today, the Supreme Court (SC) is slated to hear the writ filed against Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane concerning a cooperative misappropriation case. This follows the initial hearing on June 2, during which SC Judge Til Prasad Shrestha, recognizing the severity of the case, emphasized the urgency of issuing an interim order and directed both parties to engage in discussions regarding the matter. Acknowledging the importance of a prompt resolution, he adjourned the proceedings to today.
Advocate Anupam Bhattarai lodged the petition in the Supreme Court, seeking the suspension of Home Minister Lamichhane pending the conclusion of investigations into allegations of cooperative fraud. In addition, the petition seeks to overturn a letter from the Attorney General's office saying that there is no cooperative fraud case involving Lamichhane. Judge Shrestha's bench has instructed Lamichhane, along with the indictment and complaints filed in various districts, to be presented before the court.
