Russian drone attacks hit Eastern Donetsk region in Ukrainian Regions
KATHMANDU: Ukraine's military reports that Russian forces have gained control of the village of Ocheretyne in the Eastern Donetsk region, amidst ongoing fierce fighting as Ukrainian forces struggle to resist the Russian advance. Russian troops are employing artillery, drones, and bombings against Ukrainian forces, exacerbating their ammunition shortages. Drone footage reveals extensive destruction in Ocheretyne, with every building in the village damaged by Russian strikes.
In addition to the assault on Ocheretyne, Russian drones targeted Ukraine's Kharkiv and Dnipro regions overnight, resulting in injuries to at least six individuals, including a 13-year-old child. While the Ukrainian Air Force claims to have intercepted all 13 drones, debris from falling drones struck civilian areas in Kharkiv, causing injuries and igniting a fire in an office building.
Russian state media reported attacks on a drone warehouse in Kharkiv, purportedly used by Ukrainian troops, although these claims remain unverified. In the Dnipropetrovsk region, two people were wounded, and critical infrastructure facilities and houses sustained damage. The Russian Defense Ministry claims to have intercepted four U.S.-produced ATACMS long-range missiles over the Crimean Peninsula, bringing the total number of intercepted missiles to 15 within the past week.
