Parliamentary Inquiry Committee urges government action on cooperatives misappropriation report
KATHMANDU: The head of the Parliamentary Inquiry Committee into Cooperative Savings Misappropriation, Surya Thapa, is optimistic that the government will take action based on the report of the committee.
Thapa submitted the report to the House of Representatives on Monday, emphasizing that the conclusions were supported by extensive and detailed evidence. He underlined that in order to solve the problems cooperatives face, the report's recommendations are crucial.
Thapa is hopeful that the administration will follow the recommendations made by the Committee. He feels that by implementing these suggestions, the issues ailing cooperatives will be successfully addressed.
The report covers major issues like fraud, embezzlement, and other types of abuse that occur in cooperatives. In order to provide a thorough and comprehensive report, Thapa mentioned that the Committee interviewed people both inside and outside of prison as part of its study.
He stressed that cooperative concerns are not limited to just one political party, pointing out that the Committee is comprised of people from a variety of political organizations.
Thapa stated that the recommendations are essential to addressing the current cooperative problem and encouraged the government to act upon them.
