Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak visits flood-hit areas in Kavrepalanchowk
KATHMANDU: Today, Panauti Municipality-12, Bethanchowk Rural Municipality-4, and Roshi Bazaar in Kalanti Bhumidanda were among the areas in Kavrepalanchowk that Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak visited due to flooding and landslides. The minister's visit was intended to examine the damage and interact with local populations, as these areas have been severely affected by recent natural catastrophes.
Minister Lekhak spoke with survivors of the disastrous flood that the Roshi River caused while he was there. The residents talked about their experiences and the difficulties they have had following the catastrophe. The minister said he understood their worries and will address them.
The tremendous damages caused by the accident were detailed to Minister Lekhak by Panauti Municipality Mayor Ram Sharan Bhandari. He stated the local government's continuous efforts to address these issues while highlighting the significant impact on residents' lives, particularly with regard to food and health needs.
At Bethanchowk, Rural Municipality Chair Bhagawan Adhikari informed the minister about the difficulties locals are enduring following the floods and landslides. He outlined the local government's priorities, which include search and rescue operations, providing food supplies, delivering health services, and restoring transport facilities.
The local administration has been actively striving to lessen the consequences of the disaster and make sure that the afflicted population's fundamental necessities are satisfied, Chair Adhikari stressed. He also talked about the ongoing difficulties and the areas that still require support.
Later today, Minister Lekhak is scheduled to attend a meeting of the District Disaster Management Committee, where participants will deliberate about the state of disaster management at the moment and the future course of action for relief and reconstruction.
After the meeting, the minister is expected to personally inspect the losses resulting from the natural catastrophes and decide what more needs to be done for recovery efforts in Chaukidanda in Namobuddha Municipality and the Katunje area of Roshi Rural Municipality along the BP Highway.
