Heavy rainfall disrupts Khimti-Dhalkebar transmission line, halting 300 MW power export to India
KATHMANDU: The Khimti-Dhalkebar 220 KV transmission line has been disrupted since 6:30 PM on Monday due to heavy rainfall. A circuit wire from the double circuit transmission line fell to the ground, and ongoing rain has hindered repair efforts, impacting electricity export.
Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) spokesperson Chandan Kumar Ghosh reported that the disruption has affected the supply of 300 MW of power, with ongoing issues in electricity distribution. The NEA, which typically exports up to 690 MW of electricity to India, is now facing a significant reduction in its export capacity due to the line's damage.
