Government mourns Saurya Airlines crash victims with national flag flown at half-mast today
KATHMANDU: The government has directed that the national flag be flown at half-mast today as a somber remembrance of the eighteen people lost in Wednesday's jet tragedy on Saurya Airlines.
In response to the disaster, Ratish Chandra Lal Suman, former Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), has formed a five-member commission to investigate the occurrence. Karna chairs the commission, which has been entrusted with submitting its report and suggestions within 45 days to help prevent similar incidents in the future.
To enhance aviation safety, all domestic airlines have committed to conducting mandatory aircraft inspections. Concurrently, CAAN will intensify its oversight to strengthen safety protocols across the industry.
