Owner of Butwal pharmacy arrested for illegal sale of narcotic drugs
KATHMANDU: It has come to light that several pharmacies in Butwal have been unlawfully selling narcotic drugs without the required prescription from a doctor.
In response to this illicit activity, the police took action and apprehended the owner of a medicine shop named Baidwar Pharmacy located on Kalika Path in Kalikanagar, Butwal. The owner, identified as Kamal Bahadur BK, was arrested on Thursday for his involvement in selling various medications without the necessary doctor's prescription. Moreover, it was discovered that these medicines were being marketed to youths as drugs.
The local police office in Butwal took decisive steps by arresting the pharmacy owner and seizing the medicines from the shop, which were being sold without the mandated doctor's prescription.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Bijay Raj Pandit, who leads the Area Police Office in Butwal, mentioned that a raid was conducted on the medical center based on intelligence indicating the illegal mixing and sale of medicines as narcotic drugs. It was revealed during the investigation that certain shopkeepers were indeed combining medications and selling them as narcotics to young individuals without any medical recommendation. The police have detained the pharmacy owner and some drug users as part of their ongoing investigation into the matter.
