2 arrested in connection with murder of elderly couple in Parbat
KATHMANDU: An elderly couple, Surya Bahadur GC, aged 69, and his wife Gamala GC, aged 67, were tragically discovered murdered in their home in Jaljala Rural Municipality-2 of Parbat district on April 1. The motive behind the crime appears to be robbery, as gold and other valuables were reportedly stolen from the residence.
After a thorough month-long investigation, authorities successfully apprehended two suspects believed to be involved in the murder. Krishna BK and Dipak Pariyar, residents of the same Rural Municipality, were arrested as part of 'Operation Laligurans,' a joint effort involving the Central Investigation Bureau, District Police Offices of Myagdi and Parbat, and Provincial Police Office Pokhara.
According to police statements, the arrested individuals have confessed to their involvement in the crime. It is alleged that they not only committed the murder but also stole valuables from the GCs' home, which they later sold in Pokhara. Additionally, authorities have arrested two individuals from Patbat and Baglung suspected of purchasing the stolen gold.
Investigations revealed that the perpetrators had known each other for approximately six months, having met while working for a passenger Jeep. On the day before the murder, they reunited in Jaljala Rural Municipality-2, spending time together before concocting a plan to rob the GCs. The following day, they executed their plan, attacking the couple, ransacking their home, and fleeing with the stolen items after disabling the electricity.
