The Pixel 9 Pro might include a 50MP selfie camera
Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL can help you take sharper selfies. Leaked marketing materials shared with Android Authority describe the 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL with 50-megapixel autofocus selfies. The selfie camera as well as the rear ultra-wide and telephoto cameras are rumored to use a 50MP Sony IMX858 image sensor, while the main rear camera could be equipped with a Samsung 50MP sensor. You can get your first look at the Pixel 9 Pro in this TikTok video, which shows the ultra-high-definition zoom up to 30x, just like the Pixel 7 and Pixel 8. The device used in this video seems to be the same leaked hardware that the account showed last week.
The marketing material also indicates Basic Pixel 9 can get a relatively modest 10.5MP selfie cam with autofocus. While not as impressive as the Pro models' 50MP rear camera, it's still an upgrade from the 10MP selfie camera on the base Pixel 8, which lacks autofocus. The dual-camera setup on the rear of the standard Pixel 9 may use the same 50MP Samsung main camera sensor and 50MP Sony ultra-wide sensor as the Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL without the telephoto lens. On the other hand, the rumored Pixel Fold 2 may only have a minor camera upgrade, according to Android Authority. According to Android Authority, Google may also be working on adding 30 frames per second 8K video encoding, but we don't yet know which Pixel devices support it or if it will be available at launch. Either way, we'll be looking for an upgraded selfie camera and ultrasonic fingerprint sensor at Google's hardware event on August 13.
