Apple will delay the rollout of three new artificial intelligence features, U.S. technology groups said on Friday, as landmark European Union tech rules require it to ensure rival products and services work with its devices.

Apple highlighted its advances in artificial intelligence earlier this month, rolling out a slew of new features and software enhancements for its iPhones and other devices to boost flagging sales. Apple Intelligence, which is available on the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPads and Macs with M1 chips and later, uses artificial intelligence to call up text, images and other content on command, the company said. iPhone Mirroring on MacOS Sequoia allows you to view and interact with your phone's screen on a Mac.

The company said on Friday three features - Phone Mirroring, SharePlay Screen Sharing enhancements, and Apple Intelligence - will not be rolled out to EU users this year because of regulatory uncertainties due to the EU's Digital Markets Act (DMA).

"Specifically, we are concerned that the interoperability requirements of the DMA could force us to compromise the integrity of our products in ways that risk user privacy and data security," Apple said in an email. "We are committed to working with the European Commission to try to find a solution that allows us to provide these options to EU customers without compromising their security."
