A first look at Microsoft’s discless Xbox Series X in white
Microsoft today started selling a discless version of the Xbox Series, and while this new white model does come free of a disc drive, it also doesn't come with the option to add a disc drive. So you'll want to make sure you're good with digital games or Xbox Game Pass before putting down on the $449.99 option.
Microsoft also left the rear ports alone, so you'll still find two USB-A ports, an HDMI 2.1 port for hooking up to a TV or monitor, an Ethernet port, and a "storage expansion slot" around back. On the front is a single USB-A port next to a pairing button for connecting controllers and other accessories.
That disc-free Xbox Series X is in the same "Robot White" as the Xbox Series S. For the holidays, Microsoft will also be offering a white Xbox Series S for $349.99 with 1TB of storage, and a special edition "Galaxy Black" Xbox Series X with 2TB of storage for $599.99.
Leaks of the white Xbox Series X suggest Microsoft may have upgraded the heatsink used to cool the console, but we're waiting for a teardown to confirm if there are any internal changes that improve cooling.
