Patan High Court hearing scheduled for Sandeep Lamichhane's appeal today
KATHMANDU: Former national cricket team captain Sandeep Lamichhane's appeal against the district court's verdict is set for a hearing in the High Court Patan today. Previously, on April 28, the case was not listed for a hearing before the bench of Patan High Court Judges Dhir Bahadur Chand and Chandramani Gyawali. On April 22, Justices Sudarshan Dev Bhatta and Purushottam Prasad Dhakal refrained from further proceedings regarding Sandeep's case.
Justices Munendra Prasad Awasthi and Durga Prasad Dhungel, on April 15, mandated the withdrawal of an application filed by Ward No. 2 Gaushala 26 of Tadi Rural Municipality, aimed at correcting a birth date in the birth register. They also requested a clear document regarding the date of birth. Despite receiving the document, the proceedings have faced repeated postponements.
Convicted by the Kathmandu District Court in a rape case, Lamichhane appealed to the High Court, filing an appeal against the Nepal government on February 22. After finding Lamichhane guilty of coercion, the district court imposed an eight-year prison sentence.
