NRB contracts Chinese firm for printing Rs 3.4 billion in Nepalese banknotes
KATHMANDU: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has awarded a contract to the Chinese company MS China Bank Note Printing and Minting Corporation for the printing of banknotes in Nepal. Specifically, this agreement stipulates that Rs 3.4 billion worth of 10-rupee notes must be printed.
Through a competitive bidding process, MS China was able to acquire the contract after the NRB had previously requested offers from foreign note printing companies. This step reflects the NRB's efforts to ensure the efficient manufacture of currency.
The contract's overall estimated value in US dollars is 7.1 million, signifying a substantial investment in Nepal's currency-producing capacity.
