Commercial Banks in Nepal achieve combined net profit of Rs 64.15 billion for FY 2080/81
KATHMANDU: Twenty commercial banks in Nepal recorded a net profit of Rs 64.15 billion for the fourth quarter of the fiscal year 2080–81 in the unaudited financial accounts. With Rs 7.06 billion in profits, Nabil Bank topped the standings, up 10.23% over the same time the previous year. With Rs 6.01 billion, Global IME Bank came next, and Nepal Investment Mega Bank took third place with Rs 5.19 billion.
Machhapuchhre Bank had the lowest net profit among the banks, recording Rs 1.25 billion for the fiscal year. Citizens Bank International and NIC Asia Bank each reported profits around Rs 1.3 billion, while Nepal Bank earned Rs 1.65 billion.
With a startling 1499.04% increase in net profit, Prabhu Bank notably had the most growth. Profits at Kumari Bank increased by 345.67%, Prime Commercial Bank's by 267.19%, and Agriculture Development Bank's by 176.23%, primarily as a result of revisions made to the financial statements from the previous fiscal year.
Ten banks, however, experienced a drop in net profit. With a loss in profits of 68.91%, NIC Asia Bank saw the biggest dip, followed by Nepal Bank with a 51.80% decline and Citizens Bank International with a 27.97% reduction.
