Google can convert your Discover feed to an AI-generated podcast
Google is experimenting with a new AI-powered feature called Daily Listen that creates personalized podcasts based on a user's search and discovery history. According to 9to5Google, the feature is currently available in Search Labs and will soon be rolling out to Android and iOS users in the US. Similar to Google’s NotebookLM Audio Previews,
Daily Listen condenses relevant news articles and topics into a five-minute audio summary, providing a quick and easy way to stay up to date. Daily Listen uses your search activity and interactions with the Discover feed to determine which stories might be most interesting to you.
This feature not only allows for audio playback, but also text transcription and standard playback controls like play, pause, rewind and skip. Additionally, a "Related Stories" tab at the bottom of the audio player allows users to dig deeper into the content. You can also rate summaries with a thumbs up or down and explore new topics to improve your future submissions.
If you'd like to give Daily Listen a try, you can find it in the widget carousel below the search bar in the Google app. While there’s no timeline for a broader rollout, Google has already been testing features like AI Search Overviews in Labs before launching them broadly.
If successful, Daily Listen could become a permanent offering, though users can expect easier opt-out options than previous AI features. This experimental tool focuses on the service of Google and focuses on AI Personalization is focused on services, and without actively traveling or reading items. Provides rational means to keep the news up to the latest state.
