X increases Premium Plus subscription pricing by almost 40%
X is trying to significantly increase the cost of subscription bonuses in several regions and support the maximum payment of the creator on the platform. The new price that came into effect on December 21 would increase the monthly US monthly fee from $ 16 to $ 22, with an annual subscription from $ 168 to $ 229.
Similar price hikes have been implemented in Europe, with countries like France, Germany and Spain increasing monthly fees from €16 to €21. Other regions affected include Canada, Australia and the UK, which will see monthly fees increase to $26 (from $20), $35 (from $26) and £17 (from £16), respectively. While these changes apply immediately to new subscribers, existing users will retain their current rates until January 20. Notably, the basic subscription tier remains unchanged.
This marks the largest increase in prices for American subscribers since Elon Musk acquired X in 2022. The company explained that the Premium Plus level is currently not entirely advertising, describing it as a "serious improvement" for the User experience. Additionally, X highlighted adjustments to its revenue-sharing program introduced in October.
The platform now emphasizes that subscription revenue contributes directly to creator payouts, rewarding high-quality, engaging content rather than just ad impressions. Premium Plus subscribers also receive priority support, access to advanced tools such as Radar's trend monitoring capabilities, and expanded usage limits for X's Grok AI models.
